Summary
- Elliot regarded organizations as generic across all the sectors. The concept of sector that there could be different sectors. There was not one that he ever really tackled. And that's the way I moved so for many years.

Speaker A But what happened was why I became schizophrenic is that I discovered or uncovered a whole different set, a different approach because I began to talk about an area which Elliot never actually covered because he regarded organizations as generic across all the sectors. Now, he did accept that universities were different and there were collegiums and so forth. I'm fully aware of that. But in the main, his model was here's a bureaucracy and here's the association that establishes the bureaucracy and here's the employing group and the employers. The concept of sector that there could be different sectors. There was not one that he ever really tackled. And that's the way I moved so for many years, really most of my research work my teaching at the LSE my postgraduate courses that I established there were in the area of the nature of what is the difference between public, private, nonprofit sector what is theory of the sector and a whole range of allied concepts.
